Construction of Conference Table

Construction tables can be designed considering different shapes and sizes and can be made from different variety of materials such as wood, glass, synthetic materials, marble or even a combination of above materials

Wood is most famous and popular material, also most beautiful of all material and also versatile hence most preferred in construction of conference table. There are two basic ways to construct a wood conference table. This include

  • Using a veneer over recommended substrate
  • Making a table from solid pieces of wood and letting the wood itself act as load bearing structure

Conference table over ten feet long, usually have tops made from wood veneers. The veneers are normally applied to a certain material known as medium density fiberboard

Medium Density Fiberboard has many desirable qualities that make it, the most used substrate for veneer, these factors include

  • Being dimensionally stable, it doesn’t warp
  • These materials has no voids that would cause it to collapse or cause the veneer to form cracking or break
  • It has an exceptionally smooth surface and hence allows for flawless application of the veneer

Even though these wood veneers are quite thin, once they are properly applied to their substrate, they are extremely durable. Most veneer repair can also be accomplished with the same effort as that of wood repair.

Also, veneer is somehow cheap than solid wood production. Wood veneers have been there for about more than 3,000 years and were first used by the ancient Egyptians. They have been proved to be the best materials for construction of conference table.

As mentioned before, all the tables over eight to ten feet long are usually not made of solid wood. This is due to some disadvantageous concern with the wood such as; warping, moving, shrinking, expanding and sometimes refusing to hold still.

When one construct large table tops from solid wood, all of these building challenges become increases hence causing more losses. All these problems can be controlled but they are in among the reasons of raising the cost of using solid wood tables.

Only if one needs a smaller table, he/she can use solid wood to construct a good higher-end option because it is suitable for that option

What about constructing banding? Banding is the table edge or perimeter. Usually it can be made of medium density fiberboard, for example table itself and provision of top cover by use of vinegar. The banding can be of different widths and thicknesses depending on customer preferences. Also should have an edge that should complement the rest of the table
